Jimena lives in rural Guatemala and is in the sixth grade. Her life can be difficult; often her family does not have enough to eat. Her parents encourage her to study so that their quality of life improves with her education. She lives with her three brothers and hopes to be an accountant after graduation.

She lives at home with her mother who struggles to find employment. Her older brother is the bread winner for the family and makes money by shining shoes.

Victoria is in 6th grade at Colegio Benedictino in Boca del Monte, Guatemala. She lives with her parents and two siblings. Her parents work hard (her dad is a bodyguard, and her mother works at a beauty salon) to support them, but they do not earn enough money to pay for all of Victoria’s school fees.
